C2A Ensenada, Mexican Cruise Recap
April 7th, 2005
This past weekend I went on C2A's cruise, my first cruise ever. This ship was
huge, and even though I did a walkthrough prior to this trip, I was still lost.
Friday, I got on the ship in the afternoon and refused to look out the window
for fear that I might already get seasick even if we were still docked in the
harbor. After we set sail, I was actually surprised I didn't feel it. Once,
I had to setup for our mixer which was in the front of the ship I was about
ready to fall to the floor cause I was feeling the motion sickness, so I popped
a Dramamine (lord bless the soul of the maker of those pills!!).
Friday night we had a "Lock & Key" mixer where we had the girls with padlocks
on their lanyards and guys with keys on theirs. The guys had to find girl with
the lock that opened with their key. I was amazed how fast people were able
to unlock theres. It was a great way for people to get to know each other. After,
our mixer we had a lovely dinner only the start of many meals to come. After
our dinner we went to the casino and the club and didn't leave the club until
3am and played poker with guys until 4am. Repeat that scenario 2x for each night
Saturday, we docked in Ensenada, Mexico. First thing I see when I step outside
is this huge flag. Seriously you could throw it up in the sky and cover that
huge hole in the ozone layer. It was my first time in Mexico and had no idea
what to expect....boy was I shocked =o. I found it interesting how the downtown
shopping area has three pharmacies on every block, carrying all your pharmaceutical
needs at a very low price. Also, all the shops that carried PRADO and FUCCI,
I didn't find that too unbelievable because you can find that stuff in Santee
Alley in downtown LA.
We then all met up in Papas & Beer, not knowing anything about this place
and I wish that people had warned me. I stepped into the place and within two
minutes I was ambushed by the workers with their whistles getting ready to force
a shot of tequila down my throat. I was like "NOoooooooo!!!!" I tried posting
myself down to the ground, but then the crowd started chanting and you know
when that happens, they¡¯re not going to let it go until you do it. Reluctantly
I allowed them to shove the shot down my throat and to my surprise did not know
that they would hang me upside down as well. After I had downed the shot I thought
"Hey that wasn't too bad," let's face it people I'm 95lbs there was no way I
could handle a shot and not end up yaking. Yay for me!!! I didn't yak.
Saturday night was a really lovely night, everyone was all dressed up. It was
really nice seeing all the guys in their suits and all the ladies in their cutest
dresses. We had to have been the best dressed group in the dining room.
Sunday was a nice day on the ship, especially since we were scared that it
was going to rain, but it turned out to be a bright and sunny day. I even got
a tan, and I wasn¡¯t even trying to tan. People really had fun just relaxing
sun bathing and doing activities around the ship. Before dinner we had our Poker
Tournament and man was that a great game, I however, was the first one out...no
fair =( but I guess it's okay since I won $75 in slots and only played one 3
line credit. Yay!!! =)
Sunday was our last night and was really sad because we were not going to see
each other on the ship the next day. It was really nice to see people exchanging
their contact information so they could keep in touch after. It was also our
last night to party, and no it did not stop us from partying until 4am. Which
we did, and it was nice to see everyone in the group at the club one last time
just having fun getting their "groove on" on the dance floor.
I had a really good time and our group was really great, I had a great time
being their host. If you guys are reading this and you were on the cruise.....Thanks
and I hope to see all of you on the next one.
P.S....It's day 2 off of the ship and my head is still bobbing and swaying.
