Applying for the Program:
Applicants need to obtain an application from their local Chinese
Cultural Center office. (Click here for locations.)
You can start to obtain the forms starting in January 15, 2003 and
the applications are due by March 15, 2003. This is the same deadline
for Overseas Counselors. This is a 5-week program including language
instruction, extracurricular/cultural classes, a sightseeing trip
of southern Taiwan, and cultural trips and seminars in Taipei. Approximate
class size: 750-1000 broken down into age groups. Estimated price
of tuition and room/board: $500 US(outside scholarships, such as
the Presidential one, are available to cover tuition).
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLYING:
- Be born on or after July 4th, 1979 and before or on July 3rd,
1984 (roughly 18-23 at time of applying)
- Be a currently enrolled student in school
(high school or college)
- Be of Chinese descent.
- Be born and/or brought up overseas (i.e.
other than the area of Taiwan and Mainland China)
- Be in good physical health
- Have not participated in this program in the past.
APPLICATION REVIEW POLICY:
1. Priority of acceptance
- a. Seniority (by age)
- b. Applied before, but was not accepted
- c. Early submission of application
2. One applicant per family only.
